"My painting is largely concerned with colour. Often I work with a limited palette to emphasise the emotional impact of a particular colour. I also enjoy using subtleties of tone, and different ways of applying paint interest me, such as the building up of thick layers of paint or just overlaying thin transparent layers. I always work intuitively. Sometimes, ideas for paintings feed off each other, or ideas are sparked off in the making. I like to work in a variety of scale, with a number of influences, both internal and external, emotional and visual affecting my work."
